Treats

What more could a girl ask for?! Europe, great weather, great friends, a good book and chocolates! I definitely enjoyed my time at Iki (as did the other three:)) we snacked a little while waiting for the bus… But are saving the majority of our haul for Saturday afternoon after our race!
Stay tuned for our Iki saga!

Calling home

There will be a picture of Sarah sitting in the Iki parking lot trying to call her mother! Aww!
Sam has international minutes and so although there is very limited service, there is always the thought that maybe, just maybe, we can call home to our loved ones!

A big push

Hi everyone!

Today is our big day, the day that you have been watching us strive for! It’s race day, people!
We have 343 people “attending” or Facebook event and $9,633.04 in donations!
We are reaching out to you one last time before the race to ask if you can help us find 7 more people to join our event on Facebook and $366.96 before our final at 4:36p local time or 9:36a eastern standard!
So whether you know us or not, whether you are a US resident, citizen, or have never been to the states before, we are asking you now to follow us in our biggest race to date. All race coverage is located at worldrowing.com through the live race tracker.
Go USA!

Weigh ins

Wow, weigh ins already! We get to weigh in 2 hours before our event but no later than 1 hour before. We made it on the first go:)
We were happy to drink our coffee and eat our protein bars and bananas:)
Now onto racing!

Tick tock

Victoria brought a sobering thought into our minds today… We only have 3 more rows as a quad. Wow! Time has flown by! It seems like ages ago we were tearing off the last rings from our trials countdown. We have been in Trakai for about a week now!
Thanks everyone for your well wishes and kind thoughts. We love hearing from you!!! I love being able to tell Sarah that her grandparents wrote on her blog or let Carolina know her mom wrote another touching comment on the donations page or yet another one of Sam’s support staff is cheering her on (I monitor most of our Internet activity)! And above all I love being able to reconnect with people I haven’t heard from in a while!

Post race breakdown

Wow! It was an honorable and incredible experience to race in USA unis with USA blades! We came off the water very happy with what we accomplished today – we were united from the start and are still buzzing from the race energy. Carolina is still reeling with the sheer awesomeness of racing COUNTRIES instead of colleges:) (this is now about 3 hours later).
We are ready for Saturday and actually wish we could go out and row right now! Moods are high with the rush of sugar from dinner and the excitement of what is to come!

Relaxing

We are all relaxing in our beds, keeping our feet up, before our race for lanes at 16:16 this afternoon (11:16 eastern standard). We’ve had some really strong practices in the past few days and we are eager to show the world what we are made of!
We are in lane 4 this afternoon and lanes 1-4 will be in use… We haven’t been fully briefed yet, so I don’t know where people are in the other lanes. But this means that we’ll hear the crowd the loudest when we come down!
GO USA!
